Why Shacking Up Has Always Been a Horrible Idea

It was the 1960s, and a large segment of American adults decided to do away with the status quo of centuries-old morals and values as it pertained to sexual relations. This particular faction of society supported and promoted an ideology that became known as the sexual revolution. By assimilating with this ideology, the concepts of abstaining from premarital sex and only being sexually intimate with one’s spouse were rendered obsolete. The faction’s ideals were evangelized and became broadly accepted. What followed has been a plague to our society as a whole.

Sexually transmitted diseases skyrocketed in occurrence. A population of children in single-parent homes soon followed, along with the elevated mental, emotional, and psychological risks that they were (and still are) forced to endure. Is it any wonder that an ever-increasing percentage of convicted criminals are individuals from single-parent households? The secular media at large glorified (and still glorifies) this lifestyle, and the world continues to fester in it as a normalized way of life. It continues on, and on, and on with all of the collateral damage it causes continually—on, and on, and on. So what did we reap from the sexual revolution? We got more crime, more STD infection rates, more unstable people, and a culture that continues to perpetuate it—all because those who accept it have worked hard to cancel the institution of marriage. To continue on this road of deviant behavior is to jump off the cliff of madness. This can only be reversed if society at large makes the conscious decision that living fast and loose is wrong and absolutely immoral/unethical. It is simply irrational to continue perpetuating this damaging act and lifestyle. Only by repentance and a return to the former days where moral absolutes were much tougher can the wounds of the sexual revolution begin to heal.

” 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life:  2 For the life was manifested; and we have seen and do bear witness, and declare unto you the life eternal, which was with the Father, and hath appeared to us:  3 That which we have seen and have heard, we declare unto you, that you also may have fellowship with us, and our fellowship may be with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.  4 And these things we write to you, that you may rejoice, and your joy may be full.  5 And this is the declaration which we have heard from him, and declare unto you: That God is light, and in him there is no darkness.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.  7 But if we walk in the light, as he also is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all iniquity.  10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” I John 1: 1–10
